For the knowledge of residents, a site alteration permit was granted by staff to the King City East Group in order to begin the process of developing the lands.
I wanted to inform residents that tree clearing was permitted after a detailed natural heritage report was submitted to the Township. Every single tree was detailed in terms of species and size in a catalog. Staff calculated a replacement ratio for the trees and the developers must replant after the construction is completed. In some circumstances, the replacement ratio is as high as 10 to 1, depending on numerous factors. The work is planned to begin in February 2020 and be completed by March 31, 2020.
King Township and this Council are committed to the environment, I want to ensure that residents know that we are aware of the activity and have taken steps to safeguard our natural heritage.
